They are materials resistant to mechanical and thermal shocks that do not lose their hardness and strength under high temperature.
1.2344 ESR, a hot work tool steel, is preferred when higher material purity,
especially high tensile strength and impact resistance is required in
Electro-slag Remelting Process (ESR) produced materials. Compared to
1.2343 ESR steel in terms of carbon content, this material is harder and
more resistant to wear due to its higher carbon content. It is widely used in injection dies,
hot shear blades, forging dies, aluminum profile dies and metal extrusion presses.
